Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to pay a fee of £45m for Chelsea striker Liam Delap.

The 23-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge last summer for £30m after impressing in the Premier League for Ipswich Town.

And despite scoring just once in the league for the Blues, Forest are ready to make a move.

Manager Oliver Glasner said before the Carabao Cup game against Leeds: “He doesn’t play today, that’s all I can say. Let’s see what happens in the next few days.”

Delap lost his number nine shirt at Chelsea to Joao Pedro during the summer and was not in the squad for Xabi Alonso’s side’s win at Fulham on Monday night.

He scored 12 times for Ipswich in the top flight in 2024-25 and has 31 career goals to his name to date.

Forest have signed defender Ousmane Diomande from Sporting for £34m, alongside free agents, midfielder Xaver Schlager and keeper Steve Benda, so far this summer.

However, they have sold England midfielder Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for a club-record £116m and striker Taiwo Awoniyi to Coventry City for £9m.
