The Canadian government is planning to axe another U.S. trade irritant, reigniting concerns Ottawa may be giving up too much in the trade war. After U.S. outcry, Ottawa seems to be moving forward with its previously announced changes to the Online Streaming Act. The federal government intends to eliminate a requirement for online streaming services to spend 15 per cent of their Canadian revenues towards funding Canadian content.
