HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has criticised Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for his misleading statements on the Kaleshwaram project without any basic understanding and his outbursts against former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao make it clear that tongue-lashing at KCR is his single-point agenda.
Speaking to newspersons here on Monday, BRS leaders B. Vinod Kumar, G. Kamalakar, P. Kaushik Reddy, Dr. K. Sanjay and D. Sravan alleged that Mr. Bandi Sanjay was blaming KCR just out of his hatred and hiding facts. They questioned Mr. Sanjay’s silence on the escalated estimated cost of Pranahita-Chevella project that had crossed ₹40,000 crore even before it was taken up.
Along with another Union Minister from the State G. Kishan Reddy, Mr. Sanjay could use his influence with the governments at the Centre and in Maharashtra and convince Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to get permission for the barrage at Tummidihatti with full reservoir level of 152 meters to get water to Yellampally by gravity.
They could take two months for the small task and get the work commenced by getting funds and national project status from the Centre as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had already made it clear that his government had no money for any major investment, the BRS leaders said.
They also criticised Mr. Sanjay for his comments that the State would have hurt its image if the national status was given to Kaleshwaram. They sought to know whether the image of Andhra Pradesh was dented with the washing away of the coffer dam of the Polavaram project.
The BRS leaders also criticised the BJP for not seeking for any inquiry in case of Sunkishala retaining wall collapse and Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse in which the bodies of six of the eight persons buried were not traced/found at all.
