A British man is accused of carrying out hostile surveillance at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus before allegedly passing information to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp.

A British man has been arrested over allegations he carried out hostile surveillance at RAF Akrotiri, a UK military base in Cyprus, before allegedly sharing what he found with Iran.
Rashad Sultanov, 44, a dual UK and Azerbaijani national, from Islington, north London, was arrested by Cypriot authorities on July 17, and remains in custody as extradition proceedings continue.
The arrest is part of an investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing London into alleged incidents at RAF Akrotiri between May 11 and June 22 this year.
The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised charges under Sections 3 and 4 of the National Security Act, alleging Sultanov carried out hostile surveillance at the site before sharing information with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a foreign intelligence service.
Commander Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said: "This case shows we are able to use the National Security Act overseas when British military bases are allegedly targeted by hostile state activity.
"A huge amount of partnership work has been carried out between British and Cypriot law enforcement agencies.
"We continue to work with colleagues from the CPS, National Crime Agency and Cypriot authorities as extradition proceedings progress."
