A five-year-old boy was found murdered inside a room in outer north Delhi’s Narela on Tuesday afternoon, hours after he was reported missing from outside his house, police said.
According to officers, a call regarding a kidnapping was first received at New Industrial Area police station around 3.30 pm on Tuesday that was later transferred to Narela police station. During the initial inquiry, it was found that the boy was playing outside his residence when he went missing.
Police said the child’s body was later found in the room of a man, who worked as his father’s driver and lived nearby.
Scuffle a day before
The boy’s father told police that he owns seven-eight vehicles. He added that his two drivers allegedly had a fight on Monday evening after consuming alcohol. During the scuffle, one allegedly beat another. After one of them complained, the boy’s father slapped the other, the suspect, a few times and reprimanded him.
“Furious, the suspect allegedly lured the child to his rented room and killed him with bricks and a knife,” said DCP, Outer North, Hareshwar Swami. The boy was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A case of murder has been registered and teams have been formed to trace the suspect, who is currently absconding. Officers have visited the spot and an investigation is underway, said police. “The suspect has fled, and multiple teams have been deployed to locate and apprehend him at the earliest,” the DCP added.
