The BBC's Wimbledon semi-final coverage has sparked widespread viewer complaints

BBC Wimbledon viewers were swift to voice the same complaint during the semi-finals.

Excitement is building at SW19 as the highly anticipated finals are due to take place this weekend.

The last four women remaining in the singles competition stepped out onto Centre Court on Thursday (July 9) to battle for a spot in the final. American two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff faced Czech player Karolína Muchová, while Marta Kostyuk went up against Linda Nosková.

After several hours of nail-biting on-court drama, both Czech players, Muchová and Nosková, progressed to their first ever Wimbledon final. Nosková defeated Kostyuk in straight sets, while Muchová's victory was far more hard-fought.

The Czech star claimed the opening set against Gauff, before dropping the second. A deciding set tiebreak then followed, with Gauff even facing a match point, reports the Express.

At a pivotal moment, Gauff attempted a drop shot but missed, before going on to lose the match shortly afterwards.

Audiences were gripped throughout the tense encounter, yet many found themselves complaining about the BBC's coverage. A number of viewers felt that the commentators — Naomi Cavaday, Tracy Austin and Anne Keothavong — were favouring Gauff, prompting many to reach for the mute button in between each point.

"@BBCSport I'm getting sick to the back teeth with BBC commentators totally impartial blatantly supporting Gauff in the #Wimbledon semi. Why can't you provide a commentator free feed," one viewer posted on X (formerly Twitter), with another stating: "I was watching this match on BBC. So disappointed about the commentator bias."

A third remarked: "Exhausting watching Wimbledon, muting the BBC commentary, unmuting for the play, then quickly muting again before they start their gibberish again."

Another commented: "The commentating for the woman's semi final was shocking. Totally unprofessional and biased towards Coco Gauff," while someone else posted: "@Wimbledon @BBC coverage feels a tad partial - am rooting for Gauff too but feel commentary should be more impartial."

The frustration continued, as a sixth audience member posted: "The shrieks of excitement when Gauff wins a point. The silence when Muchova wins a points. That's the BBC commentators for you," with another stating: "Watching Wimbledon women's match between Gauff & Muchova on BBC and it's totally bias in favour of Gauff."

An eighth supporter posted: "#BBC can your two commentators on the Muchova v Gauff match at Wimbledon be any more bias. Coco this, Coco that. I just hope either commentator isn't available for the final because you will have one less viewer!!!"

The men's semi-finals are scheduled for Friday (July 10), with British wildcard Arthur Fery facing Alexander Zverev in the opening match on Centre Court. That will be followed by a blockbuster showdown between top seed Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic.
