Fans were quick to spot some possible tension in the Saturday Kitchen studio

Fans believe they spotted the host give away his true feelings.

BBC viewers watching the latest instalment of the broadcaster's weekly cookery programme, believe the first guest got on the presenter's nerves.

Saturday Kitchen returned with another hectic instalment. Hosted once again by Matt Tebbutt, he was joined by chefs Andrew Wong and Jess Shadbolt along with recipe developer and cooking influencer Seema Pankhania and wine expert Olly Smith.

Also featuring on this week's episode was special guest and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson. However, it was the first segment of the show that caused an immediate stir.

It involved Andrew Wong making barbecue char siu roast pork with gai lan. According to the BBC Food's website, the recipe involves marinating the pork overnight and charring it in a hot pan or on the barbecue.

Although Wong mentioned that in his restaurant, he uses a duck oven. Afters added a sweet syrup before serving with a glossy char siu glaze and blanched gai lan.

Wong is a British-born chef of Chinese heritage. According to his website, his environment and upbringing have had an equal impact on his work along with a solid academic background. It has apparently led to a cooking style that firmly places one foot in the future while drawing inspiration from the past.

In 2012, he opened A.Wong with his wife Nathalie and the “A” is not a reference to his own name but pays homage to his parents, Albert and Annie.

However, during his Saturday Kitchen segment host Matt Tebbutt interrupted the cooking to point out several things that were perhaps not to his liking. One of these included that the chef wiped his hands on Matt's shirt on one than more occasion.

He pointed out that there were multiple cloths and tea towels around the studio's kitchen set that he could use instead. He also interrupted Andrew at one point while he was explaining his recipe to highlight that one of the oven doors was left open.

Matt asked him: "Would you leave this open in your restaurant? So don't do it here."

While most of the back and forth seemed to quite tongue in cheek, viewers watching along at home wondered if there was a bit more to it.

One person shared on social media: "Wow this guy is really getting on Matt’s nerves isn’t he?" followed by some crying laughing emojis.

Someone else was also left frustrated by proceedings as they declared: "As much as I enjoy the programme, why does everyone have to shout and talk over each other?"

Elsewhere, special guest Ricky Wilson also caused a stir with his controversial opinion on fish and chips. He claimed he never goes anywhere that serves more than fish and chips, including pies or even sausages.

A viewer posted: "I hope enjoys his Courgette, mushroom and aubergine fritto misto - Yes, I voted hell. Anyone who doesn’t like pies, battered sausage, or saveloys is a heathen!"
