The defence secretary was interviewed by presenter Roger Johnson on the BBC programme

BBC Breakfast viewers shared their thoughts after Wes Streeting gave an interview on the show.

The defence secretary spoke to the BBC programme's Roger Johnson on Sunday (July 26), who twice asked the politician to shorten his answers.

The presenter kicked off by asking Streeting whether he trusted US President Donald Trump, but the politician appeared to skirt the question despite giving a lengthy answer that focused more on the UK's relationship with the US.

Roger then told him: "Just, the viewers at home will know this, because they may have realised there's quite a long delay on this line. I don't want to keep interrupting you because it doesn't make it very nice for them watching at home.

"But if you can keep the answers reasonably succinct, because we've only got a limited time with you, and there's quite a bit of ground we want to cover for obvious reasons."

The pair then moved on to other topics, talking about things such as the cost of living and the Strait of Hormuz, but later in the interview the presenter again asked Streeting if he could trim down his responses to the questions.

"If you can keep the answers short, that would be really, really great, because I have got a bit of ground to try and cover," Johnson said.

Several viewers watching the BBC Breakfast interview commented on it online, with one remarking on X: "Roger Johnson subtly and politely asking Wes Streeting to keep his answers brief."

"Someone take Wes's batteries out," joked another viewer. "In other words, stop yer blabbering..." quipped another person on the platform, which was formerly Twitter.

"Roger's tactful way of telling Wes to get to the f****** point," said someone else, as another viewer remarked: "Wes isn't shutting up is he? Lol."

"He’s struggling lol," laughed another viewer, as somebody else quipped: "Just answer the question, Wes."

However, another viewer insisted that the defence secretary was "very articulate" when he was talking to Roger, who was hosting the instalment of the morning programme with fellow presenter Luxmy Gopal.
