A 29-year-old male driver, and a five-month-old baby girl, sustained minor injuries.

The girl's mother told 9News the child had to be taken to hospital to have her eyes washed out with saline.

The fire extinguisher believed to have been used in the attack was found nearby on Stringybark Road, Sippy Downs.

Investigators are appealing to residents and businesses who were in the area between 7.30pm and 8.20pm that day, and who may have relevant information, CCTV, or dashcam vision, to contact police.
