Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe search continues after a passenger ferry with more than 240 people on board capsized due to bad weather in Indonesia’s Java Sea on Sunday, leaving at least 6 dead and 129 people missing. At least 108 people were rescued as a search operation, which included the navy and the coast guard, expanded around the vessel’s last known position. The captain had reported rough seas with waves up to 3 meters (10 feet) before issuing a distress call. Authorities later received information indicating the vessel had overturned. Hundreds of family members gathered at a command center in Banjarmasin’s Trisakti port, anxiously checking passenger manifests and rescue lists as authorities continued searching for survivors. Freddy Manuhua, the brother of a missing passenger said, “My hope is that my younger brother can be found, whatever condition he's in. I'm not demanding that he be found safe because that's in God's hands.” Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands where ferries are a common method of travel. Disasters occur regularly, with weak safety enforcement often blamed.
