In the news today, Ampler Bikes has reengineered its Curt model eBike with groundbreaking USB-C frame charging technology, claiming the first integrated system of its kind in the e-bike industry. Ampler is known for a minimalistic approach to lightweight, hand-built eBikes, and the Curt is a prime example.
(Photos / Ambler Bikes)“Curt is the purest expression of our design philosophy,” says Eva Raigo, CEO of Ampler. “Every element has a purpose. Nothing more, nothing less. With this update, we’ve taken something iconic and refined it for today’s world. It’s the same Curt, simply perfected.”
OK, cool… let’s check it out.

The Estonian manufacturer’s latest iteration weighs in at just 14.1 kg (31lbs), making it their lightest model to date. They’ve incorporated a completely redesigned internal architecture that features a proprietary ABC module.
This module integrates Bluetooth, GPS, and cellular connectivity into a single waterproof electronics core developed entirely in-house. More on this a little later.
Frame Construction and Materials
The Curt utilizes a double-butted, aluminum frame with seamless TIG welds. The balanced geometry is optimized for urban cycling. Ampler paired the aluminum frame with a new carbon fiber fork, which features an enhanced layup.
The layup is specifically designed to absorb road vibration while maintaining responsive handling. The frame construction supports the integrated USB-C charging system while maintaining structural integrity through thousands of kilometers of vibration testing protocols.
USB-C Charging System Highlights

- 140W fast-charging capability with 2.5-hour full charge time
- Universal cable compatibility eliminates proprietary charger requirements
- Integrated frame mounting system with weatherproof connections
- Compatible with standard USB-C PD (Power Delivery) protocols
This is the same charging system that won Ampler a Eurobike Award earlier this year in Germany.
Drivetrain and Motor Specs
Riders will be able to choose between two drivetrain configurations: a single-speed Gates Carbon Drive belt system for maintenance-free operation, or an 11-speed Shimano derailleur setup for varied terrain control.

Both options pair with a 250W rear-hub motor delivering 45 Nm of torque, powered by a 336 Wh LG lithium-ion battery pack that provides up to 100km range depending on terrain and assist settings.
Electronics and Connectivity
As promised earlier, let’s see what’s up with the “ABC Module”.

Ampler says that its proprietary ABC electronics module represents its most advanced internal system. It features integrated smart diagnostics and multi-protocol connectivity.

This waterproof core enables GPS tracking, theft protection, and app-based customization of assist levels through Bluetooth connectivity, which sounds identical to Aventon’s ACU system. Ampler says that the system undergoes rigorous environmental testing, including vibration, water ingress, and temperature cycling protocols.
Configuration Options

Ampler offers the Curt in two equipment levels, the Blank version, which comes in at $4240 (€3,690) and provides the essential bike without accessories. And the Equipped model for $4470 (€3,890), which includes pre-installed fenders, a rear rack, and a kickstand.
Both configurations are available in high-step and low-step frame geometries with color options in matte black and silver finishes. Ampler includes a 4-year warranty covering the integrated electronics and charging system.
