A woman in Dartmouth, N.S., is sounding the alarm after booking an air-duct cleaning service.   Shernette Smith says she was skeptical of photos she received as proof of a completed job, before inspecting it herself and uncovering a different story.   "It was still filthy. All the dirt was still in that section where the filter goes. So that's when I knew he had scammed me," Smith said.   AI Researcher Siwei Lyu analyzed one of the photos and found a 'Google SynthID' watermark, a way of identifying AI-generated images. Lyu says AI-detector 'Sightengine' also gave the photo a 99 per cent score, and "showed a high response that comes from a generative model. So that's our strongest evidence this image may come from AI."   Mitchell Bailey investigates.
