A delegation led by veteran Kannada actor Srinath met the Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar on Thursday and requested him to shift the Government Television and Film Institute (GTFI) from Hesaraghatta to the city centre.
Briefing the minister about the S.J. Polytechnic, which was the first in the country to set up a Film and Television department, the delegation also requested the Minister to upgrade the Film and Television courses at S.J. Polytechnic.
Responding positively to the request, Mr. Sudhakar assured them of deciding to shift the institute from Hesaraghatta after discussing with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “I will soon visit the institute along with officials and verify what can be done. Regarding shifting, I will discuss with the Chief Minister,” Mr. Sudhakar said.
“I am aware of the demand for courses like cinematography and sound engineering. We will take the necessary initiative to introduce advanced technical courses,” the Minister stated.
