NEW DELHI: A 31-year-old software engineer was allegedly beaten to death by his wife’s family following a matrimonial dispute in outer Delhi’s Nihal Vihar Friday.Police have detained four people.The engineer, Vinay Gupta, was a resident of Laxmi Park. He had married a 31-year-old woman from Budh Vihar about three-and-a-half years ago. The couple has twins — a boy and a girl — who are about four months old.Police said the dispute between the couple started Friday morning. The woman called her family over. They reached Gupta’s residence in Nihal Vihar. They allegedly assaulted him severely.Also read: ‘Crushed his lungs’: How a ‘minor’ dispute ended in Adobe techie's deathGupta suffered serious injuries and later succumbed to them.Police said four people allegedly involved in the attack have been identified and detained.A case under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) is being registered.The detained persons are being questioned about their alleged roles in the assault.Gupta was employed as a software engineer in Adobe, Noida, while his wife is a homemaker, said police in a press statement.Police are probing the circumstances leading to the assault and the events that preceded the dispute. Investigators are also questioning the detained persons to ascertain the role of each suspect.
