HYDERABAD: In Secunderabad Cantonment area, unknown persons had stolen weapons including assault weapons AK-203, INSAS from the high security military area in Sunday night.On the complaint given by personnel from Army, a theft case was registered by Bollaram police.The military authorities found 11 different types of ammunition which includes AK-203, INSAS rifle, different kinds of pistols were stolen by unknown persons.After realising that some of the sophisticated were missing, Army officials had sealed the area from all sides and started the probe."Initial investigation point out the role of some insider. Questioning of various persons associated with this wing is being done," sources said.The wing is generally accessed by both Army and few outsourcing persons from civilian units. Generally this highway security area is guarded by armed personnel in shifts. It is learnt that the offence had taken place when there were only few guards. How did the accused managed to shift the weapons from the high security area out of the Cantonment is yet to be known.Army personnel and Malkajgiri police are probing the case.
